Project Background
As part of my internship at the Discovery Center in the summer of 2022, I was challenged to develop a new exhibit that would take the place of The Cottage. This exhibit area was troublesome because the Cottage structure could not be moved because it is built on a platform. The height of the platform also meant the exhibit was inaccessible to guests with mobility challenges.
My solution was the Farm to Table Exhibit. This exhibit would have three parts, and two of them would reuse/repurpose the current features of the exhibit (because we love sustainability!).
I am incredibly proud to say that Farm to Table was installed in September 2023. It was built to match my original design. Since the transformation of the exhibit space, we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents about how engaging the new exhibit is and how grateful they are at the cottage is now accessible. In 2024, Farm to Table won an Award of Excellence from the Tennessee Association of Museums.
