A Haunted House

Project Background

I wrote this 10-minute play as a part of my graduate playwriting class. The prompt required me to include a fairy tale character, a character from Shakespeare, a pair of shoes, and breakfast. I wanted the story to grow organically out of the question “What if…” without being bridled or limited by what I thought the play should be.

What resulted was this wild play in which the ghosts of Ophelia (from Hamlet) and Mabel (a nobody – just a character from my imagination) must work together to rid an unwanted visitor – Goldilocks – from the home that they haunt.
